Students for Water

Changing the world is no longer reserved for adults with big bank accounts.

Over and over again, we’ve seen young people come together to make a difference in the water crisis. Students for Water is a tribe of world-changers who will do anything and everything to bring clean water to those who don’t have access to it. For every $10 you raise, one less person will be forced to drink contaminated water.

Markham Middle School

When students at Markham Middle School in Watts, California learned about the water crisis in Liberia, they decided to act. The students banded together and decided not to buy snacks and drinks at lunch. They then took the money they would have spent on food and used it to fund a well in Liberia. When a local business owner heard of their passion and determination, they decided to match the funds. These students skipped some snacks, but now two entire communities in Liberia have access to clean water. Watch their video

Thomas Check heard about the water crisis and decided to found a Generosity Water club at his high school. Through club dues, bottled water sales, and other fundraisers they gathered a nice amount of cash. But then they found two adults who would match their fundraising efforts. Their $1,000 suddenly turned into a $3,000 well.

Pepperdine University

Pepperdine student Carter Sapp visited Kenya on a study abroad trip. He returned to Malibu determined to help others get access to clean water. He got twenty-five of his friends to skip lunch every Wednesday and donate the $10 they would have spent on food towards a well. Three months later, they funded a $3,000 well. Some of his talented friends put together a video to show other college students how they too could help. Watch Their Video

LifeHouse Christian School

You would think that an elementary school with only 75 students wouldn’t be able to do too much to fight the water crisis. But these students did everything from donating the price of a movie ticket to emptying out piggy banks to raise over $750 in just a few weeks. These 75 students gave another 75 students access to clean water. To see photos from LifeHouse click here. See Their Photos
